The Love Crew- Oct 24.2010 Downtown Toronto http://www.TheLoveCrew.com/

Oh WOW. What an amazing experience filled with love and light!

I have just come home from experiencing a day filled with love and energy.

For I  volunteered for the Love Crew Event (Oct 23 2010 Sat).

http://www.TheLoveCrew.com/ organized by the magnificent Shawn Jason.

As I was super anxious and excited for this day, I arrived super duper early!

At 11 am to be exact.

Where exactly?

To Dundas square.

In which began the search for the balloons (meet up spot).

Of course, the balloons were no where to be found.

So I began to ask around.

No one had a clue!

So,I began to panic a little, as my battery died.

In order to confirm the location, I was able to call a friend.

For as luck would have it, I met a very gracious security guard who shared his booth with me.

Not only was I able to charge my phone, but I was also able to browse online.

Thank you!

In the midst of our conversation, a girl approached us.
Asking for some directions along with the question of whether or not we had seen some balloons.

In that moment a sense of excitement bubbled through me, as I have finally found someone!

Yay!

After some introductions, we noticed a car pull up, and out came some volunteers with the balloons!

Shawn (the organizer) and some others were  searching through some boxes. Boxes filled with some quote couture hoodies that  were graciously donated to us by Chamsi Filali-
the creator of quote couture.

Were some of the inspiring quotes that were offered.

 Thanks Chasmi!

They are beautiful and  are soo comfy.

I felt so proud wearing it through the streets of Toronto!

So anyways... the first group was ready to go.

It was about 9 of us.

Led by the team leader, who happened to be myself-what a wonderful experience!

My team rocked!

Can I just say that throughout this experience I felt super “high” off all the energy and love of the Love Crew!

Our mission began on  Dundas square and ended at a park in Kenigston market.

The journey lasted a good four hours or so, which is wicked as we incorporated a nice workout into the mix.

Man what a rush!

Handing out FREE HUGS

FREE LOVE

 FREE I LOVE YOU CARDS

And fresh fruit and vegetables to the less fortunate.

Meeting such wonderful people a long the way.

Watching the smiles on their faces.

Hearing the gratitude and love from complete strangers- made it all worth it!

Some people even shared the fact that they were having such a bad day, and a hug is exactly what they needed! :)

Some bystander even wrote this for a video that she posted on Youtube.

“Probably the sweetest, heart-warming thing I’ve ever seen in Toronto. I’m not going to lie. When I first encountered these guys (http://www.TheLoveCrew.com) yelling for free hugs, my eyebrows arched. If it weren’t for the matching sweaters, I probably would be skeptical. Then it hit me. How upsetting of a reaction is that? But to all good reason. Let’s be real, our first reaction and RULE in the city is never to be naive and never talk to strangers, let alone hug them.
What I encountered yesterday gave me a feeling of great balance for my city. Let me explain what I mean by that. I’m not going to state how amazing Toronto is- because that’s cliche and untrue. There’s always room for improvements. So balance because too much of a good thing can be bad or upsetting, because then, it’s fantasy. AND you won’t believe me.
On the news you hear about rape, theft, violence, etc. But today, on my blog (http://requited.tumblr.com) you’ll hopefully realize that there is another side. One more thing to share: that very moment the feeling of community rushed inside of me. I felt so proud and blessed to live in Toronto. So, when you do see these guys in the city. Give them a hug. Spread the love. P.S They give the BEST hugs ever. FREEHUGS” – Judy Kim

After a wonderful journey we arrived at the park in the market and were greeted by the other teams.

Wow what a rush!

What a wonderful vibe.
After a long day we were all grateful for the nutritious and delicious raw food menu prepared for us by Tarek Bibi- one of the volunteers.

THANK YOU.

I LOVE YOU—PASS IT ON.

What a beautiful day! I am so grateful and proud for having been a part of this experience. Not to mention for all the beautiful people that I have met.

I look forward to the next one and would love for you all to join!

I LOVE YOU—PASS IT ON.
