" Somehow, it the midst of our tears, a gift is hidden. Somehow, in the midst of our mourning the first steps of the dance take place." Henri Nouwen
"Out of the darkness of the long night, the Dawn has come. I rise to meet the new day, filled with confidence and strength," SOM
Life is a continuous unfolding in which the old gives way to the new. Renewal is always happening. In the midst of whatever loss you have experienced, the gift of greater life, of expanded good, is coming to you. A useful spiritual practise in helping you to accept and receive this gift of expanded good is simply to acknowledge your feelings of sadness, pain, disappointment, or anger brought about by the loss- whether of a marriage, job, or physical health. You are wise to allow yourself whatever time you need in order to complete this grieving process. There is no time frame or schedule to follow other than what your own heart tells you.
No matter how long it takes, this process is not keeping you stuck in the past. Rather, it is preparing you for the gift hidden in the painful experiences that life bring to all of us. Today, gently encourage the process of renewal by deciding to make peace with the past. Acknowledge your losses, honour your feelings, and then move forward with an expectancy of good.
If you have experienced loss, know that a gift for you is hidden there. A new day is dawning in your life. Allow loss to reveal its gift and to lift you into a more expanded life.
